Salon January 17 2014

Thanks to all who came out for the first salon of the New Year and packed like sardines into a variety of rooms for song, dance and a few more intellectual pursuits (like wondering at pictures of Thomas Edison and sleeping giraffes).

First on the program:

Majel Connery, Irene Hsiao & Shakespeare (sort of)

These short performances were derived from a series of poems in the "Passionate Pilgrim," a collection of sonnets formerly, but no longer, attributed to Shakespeare (which will also be the name of a terrible band some day). For several years, I've been working on musical settings of the sonnets for voice and piano. Six of these drafts were performed at the salon by Bay Area-choreographer, Irene Hsiao.
